April Fools’ Day, Haverford Style

The annual celebration in the KINSC has once again turned the campus’ science building into book-, movie-, and videogame-themed wonderlands in honor of the holiday.

As March turns to April, the Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center (KINSC) gets a prankster’s makeover. It’s April Fools’ Day at Haverford, and per annual tradition, senior majors in six natural sciences departments have decked out the KINSC in themed decor.

Videogame themes were featured prominently this year, with the KINSC Rotunda adorned with Super Smash Bros characters and music, courtesy of the chemistry majors. Coincidentally, physics and psychology students chose Pokemon and Mario Kart themes, respectively, giving this year’s April Fools’ Day a decidedly Nintendo-flavored twist.

Elsewhere, in the Hilles lobby, computer science opted for a Harry Potter theme, biology made Zubrow Commons look like Bikini Bottom with a Spongebob Squarepants theme, and math infused the Harris wing with Lord of the Rings elements.

For the first time ever, a non-science department got in on the April Fools’ fun, too, as music students created a “CATastrophe in the MEOWsic building” for the holiday.
